Top Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
Mother’s Day….
So …. on Sunday 22nd March 2020, according to the definition offered by Wikipedia we, mums of the UK, can expect “a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society”.
Now, for some of us we may be visualising breakfast in bed, a beautiful card that took hours to choose, fresh flowers, a pre-booked three course meal in our favourite restaurant with our children lovingly staring at us (and behaving) and telling us how wonderful we are.
And then back to reality!!!
The mothers day card that sticks in my mind the most, well there are 2, was the one that read “you are like a mum to me” sent by my own child! And then there was the one that told me how wonderful I was cooking, washing, ironing and cleaning up – sent by my 10 month old child!!! (Thanks hubby for remembering).
For many of us though we are so keen to make sure our own mum’s and mum-in-law’s are remembered we forget that we too are mums. Choosing gifts for the special ladies in our lives can be a challenge. Traditional gift, personalised gift, adventurous gift, simple gift or just a card !?
For those of us with younger children the need to “spoil” mummy can be the best gift; breakfast in bed, homemade cards and gifts (thanks nursery schools and child-minders everywhere), cuddles and lots of kisses. I remember my little girl giving me a massage once courtesy of what she had been taught at school to help nurture positive touch and help the children to relax each other before naptime! Very gentle but beautiful and a gift I have yet to forget.
